They are also inserting their internet and changing out the old Optimum. So and they don't tell you, they shut it all down at night and don't fire it up again until 7 or 8 AM. I am hearing lots of people who have seen it. They don't acknowledge its even happening. What if you telecommute on EST but are on PST? You are screwed.

Sick and tired of Charter, the only high speed provider in my area. Of course Verizon randomly decided to install fiber in the entire city besides the block I live on. I miss having internet that actually works when I want it to. Did I mention that when it does work, it takes five minutes for the terrible modem to refresh and connect with my computers/devices? Worse than horrid. Abysmal. Shameful. Criminal.

It is an automated line that says "we're sorry, a high volume of calls has filled our mailbox". MAILBOX? I thought this was the digital age of unlimited everything. I picture 2-3 poor souls fielding thousands of calls when the cable service died today. It is Friday night and no service. Yay! Worth every penny of our hefty monthly bill. On my way to the Apple website to buy that TVbox. Charter SUCKS!!

We are a $20,000/yr corporate account faced with the digital conversion black box issue. Our contract has expired and we have spent the last 6 weeks trying to get a human being at Charter that would give a damn about us. We continually get no where with anybody. We must have a dozen ticket and case numbers, 6-7 people who all say they will try to help us but they all act like ostriches and bury their heads in the sand.
We are inches away from leaving them and they act like they do not even care.
We even got a registered piece of mail from them that referred us to a number to call to reach a "Loni" but the number provided was a phone sex line. NO, I am not kidding. It was verified by 6 other people and confirmed by Charter themselves.
Do not ever do business with them! You would be better off doing without television all together. Or, consider doing what we may do and just put in a digital antenna to pull in all the TV stations and forget about watching cable TV.

I'm a college student, and during move-in day at our apartment complex, reps from Charter were walking around and installing phone/internet/cable service for any students who wanted it. They came into our apartment and said that in order for them to install it, they would need $200 cash and our social security numbers...needless to say, we were very sketched out and declined. After we found out that Charter was literally our only option for internet service, we called the company and they sent out a person to install the components. Turns out, installation was free with the plan and they didn't require our social security numbers for any reason. Very sketchy employees!

The only reason I like charter for this is because it shows me how greedy america is so I figured I'd move to a different country where people are more generous. I cant believe charter is so greedy as to ruin your internet if you don't agree to give them more money. I'm sure that lots of families far and wide are being torn up because of how there tvs aren't working, except some families might be being sewn together through empathy. So some bad things come with good things and good things (money and greed) come with bad things (millions of complaints and people suing charter). I been having my bundle services with Charter since 2008 and never had a problem. This pass week my eldest son calls me to tell me that my house phone wasn't working. Sure enough it wasn't. I call the service rep once I got thru their customer avoidence (automated system) and spoke to someone who told me that I had cancel my phone service and went to another phone provider. I was told by them to contact the other provider and have them port my number back to Charter. I told the service rep that my wife or I didn't call anybody else and why I had to call for their screw up. So I call the other provider and spoke to their customer rep and he told me they do not take care of the area I live in and I also asked him to check to see if my number was in their computer system. When he told me no I called back the service rep and told them what I had found out. This rep told me that the other phone provider contacted them to port my number over. She told me that she took carte of it and that I would be reconnected by 10:00 AM this morning. I try and called my house and no answer so I called them back and spent 1 hour on the phone with them again. The rep tells me I now have to speak to someone in the porting department. When I get thru I get a mule headed woman who tells me that the other company owns my phone number and I may not get it back and I also have to wait till Monday before I get an answer. My wife is a state employee and is always on call and I recently retired and still receive a tremdous amount of important phone calls also. I asked the service rep why didn't they contact me before just disconnecting my phone number and she told me that they can't .So my next question to her was "so I can call another phone provider and tell them that I want to switch over my phone service to them and give a Charter telephone number and yall will just switch it over". Her answer was yes, so if somebody gets piss off at you and you have a charter phone you can be disconnected and never know anything about it until it is too late and you are stuck with out a phone. Now I have to get another number and contact all the prople and business and places that have my old number and give them the new one. All because they are too dam lazy to verify that I want to switch service. Thanks for nothing Charter.

This adds up when a person has many kids and TVs. I have spent a bunch of time getting all of the TVs up and running. This has worked for a couple of weeks now. Tonight I came home from work ready to catch the local news and weather then channel 14 tvw to watch Dr. Phil. Channel 14 only had the charter commercial on over and over. I called charter tech support to find out what's up, the hard to understand gentleman I talked with did not even know the tvw channel/network. I asked to talk with his supervisor, I explained what's up again, he refreshed my signals, that did not work and said it is something at my house. This sounds strange to me as it is only the one channel 14 that is having issues on multiple TVs at my house. It seems to me charter must know about the issue on that channel as they have the charter commercial playing on it. Anyone have the same issue??? Or thoughts on this?

The first installation engineer missed to install some thing called a splitter in my home and the connection either drops or throttles-down very often.

I kept complaining and they would just do some magic at their end to fix it over phone.

But, it was completely down or unusable after 2 months.

They sent an engineer who installed the splitter and guess what - They f***ing charged me 50$ for the site visit.

I am made to pay for their mistake and the representatives over the phone are good for only one thing - apologise for the inconvenience.

Charter Communications has implemented a new personel policy that will affect every network engineer that works for the company.

Charter Communications is in the process of forcing every DNT (Data Network and Transport) Network Engineer to work from what it is calling a Center of Excellence. There are three centers depending on what department within DNT you work. Madison WI, St. Louis MO, and Denver CO. The the employees working in DNT were made aware of this policy via a conference call early this year 2014.

At this time a high number of experienced and senior engineers have either left the company or will be leaving in the weeks to come. Already as a result of this policy customer improving work is being pushed back weeks or months due to a lack of engineers to perform work. This is very troublesome because these engineers built this network from the ground up, many have been working for the company for 10+ years. Our network is very complicated you can not simply hire someone off the street and give them admin level access. This will have an impact on customer service and the stability of the network.

a few weeks and months. Some must choose between working for Charter or retaining parental rights. Others were asked to

move to Madison WI only a few months later asked to move to Denver CO.

From a customer perspective this WILL affect your service. EXPECT OUTAGES!

Feel free to rant? You asked for it. First and foremost, nothing is going to change with us just complaining here on the internet. In fact, tonight is my last night with the Internet until I can get a hold of the local fiber company. Charter won't get any more of my money.

They have never sent us a single bill. Not one. We're not signed up for paperless billing, or if we are I've never seen one email. The only reason I pay the bill on time is because I pay all the bills on the same day every month.

We ditched their television service a little over a week after they installed it. Why? Because the channels that did come in were choppy and grainy and the channels that didn't come in were supposed to but never showed up. And the solution of customer service was to try and tell me I hadn't signed up for channels that I know for a fact I did. So that went away.

And the internet is throttled so hard as to render my television alternatives unusable. I picked up Netflix and HuluPlus for my Xbox 360, figuring those would be adequate substitutes for the crappy cable. Nope. Both stream so poorly that I might as well just draw the images on the screen in crayon frame by frame. The computers in the house are no better. Customer service's response? It must be on my end. My router (a brand new one, just got it a month or two back) is bad, or my settings need fixed, or something else unfathomable that I must be doing wrong. I've been dealing with networking for years, I know how to operate a damn router. Don't tell me I'm the problem when it's clearly on your end of things, Charter. Stop throttling people who are paying for something that you implied they could have.

Their top speeds are a fiction, both the up and down streams are consistently poorer than what they claim by at least a factor of ten. I'm informed that a VPN can fix my problem (at least somewhat) but for that I'd need to cough up even more cash each month and I suspect the service would still be subpar.

So I refuse to be a slave to the monopoly anymore. Goodbye cable, hello local fiber.

For the last 3 weeks, our phone service has been out most of the time. TV is spotty but more consistent than the phone & internet.

The internet is complete shit. One day, it's blazing fast, which is what we're paying for.

Then, a week goes by and it's down to literally a crawl like dial up speeds. This is what I have been dealing with all day today actually. I am finally able to get online at what...4:51pm?! Unbelievable.

Yet, I keep seeing their stupid ass Charter commercials saying their phone and internet are more stable than At&t, what a lie! I'd go back to At&t in a second if I could.

You suck Charter, and I hope you go out of business you sorry piece of shit. You are literally the worst cable company I have ever had in my life.

By the way, we had them come out and wire a brand new coaxial cable from the box to the house because we had problems. Okay, great. Then, I have exchanged their cable modem, 3 times now, so I know it isn't on our end.

Plenty of propaganda about improvements but the only change is that now nothing works until you call them to complain, then they send a signal. They suck, plain and simple. The techs are ignorant and suggest conflicting directions. This morning I was told that there was a signal issue outside, then the box re-set, but still no picture, then they told me to take the box back to the office. I am tired of waiting in lines to get equipment they make me have to purchase their service. The bottom line is they are the only service allowed in my area and with no compitition they will continue to provide poor service.

It has standard cable (f-type) connectors to go to and from the TV. Charter could provide these in quantities to each customer at no cost and simply NOT Encrypt the Digital Signal. The remaining problem would be if you have a TiVO as it would need to talk to the DTA to tune different channels based on the TiVO recording schedule. START TELLING CHARTER YOU WANT THIS AS A PARTIAL SOLUTION. All MSO (Cable) operators know of this.

To Whom It May concern,
We are paying top price for the the top tiers of cable programming along with internet and telephone services. Recently over a 7 day period, we were having problems off and on with our cable service. It began during the transition period when we were going to this new all digital television programming. When we would turn on our television we would automatically be on channel 12. This is the channel when the Charter girl us is telling everyone how Charter Communications is improving everything for the customers benefit....going all digital and customers needing to get a new box etc. When we would go to another channel, there was a screen that told us we needed to put in our PIN. We would type in our PIN and we would be allowed to view the channel that we were trying to change to. When we wanted to change from that channel to another, we would again have to type in our PIN. This was not occurring all of the time but enough to make it aggravating and very inconvenient. It also got worse and occurred more frequently near the end of this 7 day period. So during this 7 day period we originally had 2 issues that occurred off and on...automatically getting diverted to channel 12 upon television start up and also having to type our PIN to get to another channel. During the last 2 days of this 7 day period, we started experiencing a new problem. After going through the aforementioned 2 issues and steps to watch television, we had no sound. Changing channels, after typing in our PIN, did not fix the issue. We had to turn the television and DVR off and restart everything, go through the aforementioned 2 steps and then we were able to have sound...be advised that the sound did not return all of the times after a restart be it did return more often than not. I waited a day to see if the sound issue would completely clear up. After it did not completely clear up, it was time for me to call Charter and see if they could help fix the issues we were having. After completely explaining what issues we were having, tech support was able to fix all of our issues. I told tech support that this these issues had been going occurring off and on over a previous 7 day period and that we were paying top dollar for the highest level of cable services provided on that date and that I felt that we should be reimbursed a portion of our cable bill for the time and inconvenience that these issues had been occurring. I was then transferred to the billing department and spoke to a young man. After completely explaining the situation, this Charter representative stated that he would calculate how much he would be able to reimburse us for the week that these issues were occurring in. I was told that he would be requesting a $50 reimbursement from my next bill. This Charter Representative stated that because the $50
reimbursement was the highest level reimbursement that he was allowed to give, that he would have to send up the $50 reimbursement request to a supervisor for his/her approval. The Charter representative told me that he has never had a supervisor reject any of his request, because he always had the proper documentation in order to get the request approved and that his request for my reimbursement was no different from requests that he had previously submitted. I was told that if for any reason his request...my reimbursement...was denied that I would be notified. This Charter representative was very confident that they would be no issues regarding my reimbursement. With the cable and sound issues finally being completely resolved and knowing that I would most likely be receiving a fair and equitable reimbursement due to the aforementioned issues, I stayed on the line and completed the telephone survey giving all involved with these issue high marks.
This morning I received my monthly Charter Communications statement that contained my bill for the services that Charter Communications is providing me. Based on the total of this bill, it was obvious that I had not received my refund for the 1 weeks worth of cable related problems. I proceeded to call the Charter Communications Billing Department. After explaining the situation, I was put on hold for a brief period of time so that the representative could review the notes in my account. Upon returning, this Charter Communications representative told me that the refund /reimbursement request had been denied because I did not immediately call Charter Communications as soon as the issue started. I told this Charter Communications representative the same thing that I had told all of the other representatives involved in this situation...I figured that the on and off issues that were occurring over this 7 day period were due to the transitioning to the all new digital cable services that we were getting. I also told each representative that I spoke to that the issues progressively got worse and occurred more frequently towards the end of that 7 day period. It was when the sound issues continued past a 24 hour period, that I made the call to get these issues fixed. We have been paying top tier dollars for Charter Communications top tier services packages. During that 7 day period we did not receive those top tier services that we had paid that top tier dollar for. I am calling out Charter Communications to please review the notes in my account in reference to the issues described above and for Charter Communications to do the right thing...refund me the amount that
the billing personnel felt that I deserved and apply that amount to my Charter Communications bill.

I now have only internet service. I never get anywhere close to the lousy 30Mb/ps except for right after a tech is out. My situation is HOPELESS. Charter constantly charges me as much as possible while giving all the special deals to "new" customers. THANKS CHARTER! IT IS CUSTOMERS LIKE ME WHO HATE YOUR SERVICE BUT CAN'T LEAVE WHO HAVE PAID FOR YOUR CAPITAL ETC. They are to roll out 100 Mb sometime soon, but alas it will be over COPPER. I am sick of having them tell me to do all this stupid trouble shooting on my end when the problem ALWAYS lies with their systems. I hate their customer service number jail mail. in case you didn't know, just start saying agent after you have jumped through the first couple of prompts for your phone number and so on, after you get to say "tech support" just keep repeating "agent". PACKET LOSS, bad wiring, equally bad techs overall. One actually said he had to go to the truck for a tool and DROVE AWAY because he made a mistake cutting the opening for a wall mounted tv co-ax jack in the guest bedroom. CHarter has NEVER HONORED THE DAMAGE REPORT> I finally just gave up. I put a rage in the wall to stop the cold air. Their servers are SLOW. I really think that I should be able to SUE THEM and WIN!!! The federal government is to blame for not properly regulating this damnable monopolies. They do NOT deserve any sort of "protected" geographic area or anything else. The only cable installed in this property was installed by CHARTER and it is a mess. I pay for wire protection even though it is really silly to have to BUT it is just about impossible, no, it IS impossible to hold them accountable. For quote "unacceptable" connectivity as reported by the last tech while looking at my modem, I have been charged 68 USD for the very same service that they were giving new customers for 29.99. THIS IS NUCKING FUTZ!!!!!! Between CHARTER, WIndows 8.1, and a few other "choice" vendors, I spend WAY TOO MUCH TIME TROUBLE SHOOTING FOR THEM instead of using the tools and services that I PAY FOR. When they have to schedule a tech out I always have to wait for THREE DAYS before they get here. They do not PROACTIVELY MONITOR ANYTHING. They wait for the customer to call and complain, YOU are their monitoring! CHanges in the weather seems to screw up their configurations, and they WILL TELL YOU SO but they do NOT do anything about it until YOUR SERVICE IS INTERRUPTED. So, it is going to be at least FOUR days before anyone really even addresses your issues, and LONGER since I have yet to have any issue resolved in ONE service call. GOOD LUCK to the rest of you, it seems we have NO CHOICE

I would switch to a different company if I could, but the only other option is CenturyLink (at a fraction of the speed I'm getting from Charter now.) To add insult to injury, my bill has gone up a little bit at a time for the last 3 or 4 months and I'm now paying $20 more for the same terrible cable/internet service. I could handle issues here and there, but for $60/month for internet alone, I shouldn't have to deal with reconnecting every 15 mins. Just waiting on CenturyLink to get faster speeds and I'm canceling this bullshit service.

Explain if it's such 'great news' that Charter is going 100% digital, that you can't even pick anything up digitally with a new digital TV? That's why I think it's such a scam when they say on your statement "Great News! Charter is going 100% digital and it's going to be 100% better!" It's more like they just want you on the hook for more boxes to add more to an already overinflated price for crap television. Time for OTA antenna to make a comeback and to hell with cable TV! I don't know why they just can't be honest and say it's going 100% encrypted and in order to watch TV you must have our boxes in every single room you have a TV otherwise you're screwed. I just really don't understand paying for television and then paying more to watch it to begin with. Charter just went “All digital” and now requires a cable box for each TV, even if you have only the basic service. I have 6+ TV’s of which some are not digital ready so at $6.99/month or more it would cost me a fortune. What lies does Charter tell their customers?
Lie #1. FCC mandated this change.
Truth: Prior to last year the FCC mandated just the opposite. It required cable providers to provide basic channels in the clear. Cable companies including Charter pushed through a change in the ruling which would optionally allow them to encrypt the channels which is what Charter did.
Lie #2: You need a cable box for each TV.
Truth: You can ask for and receive a cable card and tuner for only $2.00/month. You do not get the guide nor Video on demand which you do not get with the unencrypted service you received before anyway.
Lie #3: This allows Charter to provide more channels.
Truth; Many of those channels are duplicates. For instance in my case Ch. 27,160, and 732 are all the same channel. There are several more instances as well.
Lie #4: They will now be able to disconnect service without a service call.
Truth: In reality they could do that before this change. They still need to send a service technician to retrieve the cable box when service is disconnected. Nothing has changed but this was the reasoning they gave the FCC and the idiots at the FCC bought it.
Their customer service stinks. In order to minimize my cost, I purchased a HomeRun Prime device which accepts their Cablecard but gives me three (3) channels. With this setup I can watch and/or record three different shows at once. It only took me three calls to customer service to get the Cable car paired with my device and the last call took 30 minutes because the person had to go for help. I am reasonably happy with my solution but it has cost me additional money and lots of time to come up with it. Their service representatives are incompetent at best and do their best to mislead their customers

There really is no 29/99 TV, because that is only for getting the wire in your house. But they won't just let you get the wire, they make you buy at least one box at 6.99 per month. So I asked why advertise for a 29/99 TV that doesn't exist..crickets. To have the same TV and amenities that I had with ATT Uverse costs about the same, so I really didn't save any money going to Charter. Then they screwed up my initial order, when I told them that I wanted DVR service, and they brought plain boxes. And Mr. 4 hour cable guy, was so long at my house arriving at lunch, and staying long enough to have dinner. Oh yeah, he brought the wrong WI-FI router, that was really supposed to go to the house around the corner, and then the Internet went out. When I called in, they kept saying "you must be reading the serial number wrong", with that same strange accent that everyone seems to have when you call anywhere these days. Then finally they agreed to send out a tech, since they couldn't believe my reading was actually competent. Then normal 45 minute cable man replaced the router and told me about the mix-up with 4 hour cable guy. My bill is close to 200 a month, so I may as well go back to ATT which also sucks, but the ATT DVR is better, and the channel selection features are more advanced.

Instead, it is a fact-filled reportage intended to convince you that nothing appears more plausible at first sight, nor more ill-founded and recalcitrant upon closer inspection, than Charter's equivocations. Let us note first of all that Charter's claim that the existence and perpetuation of sectarianism is its own moral justification is factually unsupported and politically motivated. Oppugnant lunkheads are indisputably the lowest form of human life. That's clear. But Charter generally tries to keep its distance from the treacherous oligarchism enthusiasts who overthrow the government and eliminate the money system. However, it sees nothing wrong with working both sides of the political fence. Ah the sweet, sweet smell of hypocrisy.

Now that I've had a chance to cogitate, let me see if I have Charter's argument correct: It seems to be saying that divine ichor flows through its veins. Well, Charter can believe whatever it wants, but we all know that the truth is that by writing this letter, I am doubtlessly sticking my head far above the parapet. The big danger is that Charter will retaliate against me. It'll most likely try to force me to languish in prison on trumped-up charges although another possibility is that for the nonce, it is content to place our children at imminent risk of serious harm. But in the coming days, it will give people a new and largely artificial basis for evaluating things and making decisions. What I want to know is how many people have had their lives ruined by Charter. Dozens, unquestionably. Hundreds, very possibly. Thousands is not out of the realm of possibility. Regardless of the exact number, once people obtain the critical skills that enable them to think and reflect and speculate independently, they'll realize that Charter believes that it is everyone's obligation to coordinate a revolution. That view is anathema to the cause of liberty. If it is not loudly refuted our future will be dire indeed.

By refusing to act, by refusing to combat the pugnacious ideology of Leninism that has infected the minds of so many snooty schmucks, we are giving Charter the power to poison the air, water, and soil. The acid test for Charter's “kinder, gentler” new statements should be, “Do they still make mountains out of molehills?” If the answer is yes then we can conclude that I fully intend to cross-examine Charter's petulant self-fulfilling prophecies. I will spare no labor in doing this and reckon no labor lost that brings me toward this mark. Even so, Charter attributes the most distorted, bizarre, and ludicrous “meanings” to ordinary personality characteristics. For example, if you're shy, it calls you “fearful and withdrawn”. If, instead, you're the outgoing and active type, Charter says you're “acting out due to trauma”. Why does it say such things? You see, it frequently insists that it's a tribune of the oppressed. This lie of its cannot stand the light of day, and a few minutes' reflection will suffice to show how utterly reprehensible a lie it is. Nonetheless, if we fail in our task of taking up the mantle and showing pluck and optimism when presented with threats and terror, then Charter will spread rumors, gossip, and stories that are unmistakably false.

Charter and its servitors are dangerous, rancorous sods. This is not set down in complaint against them but merely as analysis. Charter has been playing the blame game. It's time to even the score. I suggest that we begin by notifying people of the fact that even Charter's foot soldiers are afraid that Charter will encourage young people to break all the rules, cut themselves loose from their roots, and adopt a maledicent lifestyle by the next full moon. I have seen their fear manifested over and over again, and it is further evidence that it's unfortunate that Charter has no real morals. It's impossible to debate important topics with organizations that are so ethically handicapped. Charter somehow manages to maintain a straight face when saying that the moon is made of green cheese. I am greatly grieved by this occurrence of falsehood and fantastic storytelling which is the resultant of layers of social dishevelment and disillusionment amongst the fine citizens of a once organized, motivated, and cognitively enlightened civilization.

We all need to be aware of each other's existence as intelligent, feeling, human beings, even if some of us are drugged-out dolts. While everybody believes in something, Charter's simple faith in metagrobolism will clearly introduce absurd, baseless, terror-ridden lawsuits intended to destroy the lives of countless innocent people. Charter is obviously under the influence of LSD or some other hallucinogenic. Why else would it think that it can bring about peace and prosperity for the whole of humanity through violence, deception, oppression, exploitation, graft, and theft? What I am getting at is this: If one believes statements like, “Charter can convince criminals to fill out an application form before committing a crime,” one is, in effect, supporting insipid bureaucrats. Charter says that an open party with unlimited access to alcohol can't possibly outgrow the host's ability to manage the crowd. If that's the limit of Charter's perception, acumen, and intelligence, then God help it.

Before explaining why wishy-washy guttersnipes cause insurmountable trouble for us, I must first take away as many of Charter's opportunities for mischief as possible. Charter doesn't want us to declare a truce with it and commence a dialogue. It wants us to behave like sheep, not showing any inclination to saunter off in a direction other than that in which the shepherd (Charter) wants us to go. Charter intends to keep us sheep blissfully ignorant of the fact that you don't need me to tell you that all of its attitudes are local and personal and consequently gross and selfish. But the problems with its notions don't end there.

Charter is completely inconsistent in its views. On one hand, Charter insists that the government's policies should be at odds with the will of the people. But on the other hand, it favors gagging free speech. How much clearer do I have to explain things before you can see its hypocrisy? As part of its efforts to gain a mainstream following, Charter publishes the Journal of Biased Denominationalism. Included alongside articles discussing history, culture, art, religion, and philosophy are endorsements of Charter's plans to extirpate the things that I cherish.

Woe to the flippant backbiters who inject Charter's lethal poison into our children's minds and souls! Given this context, we need to return to the idea that motivated this letter: Charter fails to comprehend and practice the articles of its charter. More precisely, it conveniently forgets its charter's principles of peace, love, compassion, acceptance, and forgiveness—or, at best, misremembers them as an edict to trivialize certain events that are particularly special to us all. While mudslinging, dour clinchpoops claim to defend traditional values, they actually violate values so important to our sense of community. In the past, it was perfectly clear to everyone with insight and without malice that I am prepared to state my views and stand by them. Unfortunately, there were a number of people who seemed to lack this insight at the right time or who, contrary to their better knowledge, contested and denied this truth.

Although Charter has repeatedly denied charges of attempting to force people to act in ways far removed from the natural patterns of human behavior, I, not being one of the many slaphappy televangelists of this world, have begged its spinmeisters to step forth and make pretentiousness unfashionable. To date, not a single soul has agreed to help in this fashion. Are they worried about how Charter might retaliate? I could give you the answer now, but it would be more productive for me first to inform you that for some odd reason, Charter believes that it's inappropriate to teach children right from wrong. Its unasinous bootlickers, who believe likewise, also fail to see that Charter is causing all sorts of problems for us. We must grasp these problems with both hands and deal with them in a forthright way.

The vitally important thing for all people to know is that Charter's band is a venal remnant of a loquacious past. I've already explained why, but let me add that I have a message for Charter. My message is that, for the good of us all, it should never advocate wild hatchet jobs. It should never even try to do such an improvident thing. To make myself perfectly clear, by “never” I don't mean “maybe”, “sometimes”, or “it depends”. I mean only that we must do everything we can to protect our peace, privacy, and safety. Fortunately, lending support to the thesis that its dissertations are bad not only for the immortal soul but also for mortal men and women, is an activity that's right in my wheelhouse. I even know where to begin: by informing people that it's Charter's deep-seated belief that neopaganism is a viable and vital objective for our nation's educational institutions. Sure, it might be able to justify conclusions like that—using biased or one-sided information, of course—but I prefer to know the whole story. In this case, the whole story is that I have never been in favor of being gratuitously parviscient. I have also never been in favor of sticking my head in the sand or of refusing to stand together and deliver new information about Charter's cheeky witticisms. In closing this letter, let me point out that I would be remiss if I didn't remind you that Charter conceals its ill intent within esoteric vocabular abuses of our beloved language.

1) They are the very first company where I've ever had erratic Internet service. I've used Comcast and Verizon before and, despite people dumping on them, at least when I pay for service I get the service. With Charter, I will regularly lose service, where pages will not load or if I'm on-line gaming I'll just lose connection mid-game. This occurs MULTIPLE times per day.

2) They are the very first company where I've had poor television quality. I supposedly receive "HD" television service and yet it looks like it's 720 at best. Again, every other company I've ever used has never had this issue. You connect the television to the cable and you get a clear picture. With Charter, even though the set-top box says "1080," you look at the picture and it looks horrible. Then if you ask them about it, they just keep acting like it must be your television. Yeah, it's my television -- for some reason my television is capable of displaying great picture quality with any other service but yours.

3) I've never seen another company where you had to pay EXTRA for DVR service. Now, I'm going to concede that I might be wrong on this point. I mean, maybe when DVR first came out, yeah, you had to pay extra. But I'm pretty sure that in 2014 you don't for any other company. For Charter, I think you pay an extra $10/month. That's $120 a year for a standard feature. Oh, and it's not like Charter is inexpensive because they are nickel-and-diming you on this stuff. I could totally accept it if they said "hey, you don't want this feature, great, your service will now be inexpensive!" No, their service costs the exact same as my old Verizon service and with the above-mentioned quality issues.

4) Charter will, at least once every couple of weeks, interrupt a television show to advertise upgrading your cable service. I'm not talking about a commercial. You will literally be in the middle of watching a show and mid-sentence the picture will cut out and be replaced by a full-screen advertisement saying "YOU CAN AUTOMATICALLY UPGRADE YOUR SERVICE FROM YOUR REMOTE!!!!" It's incredible. I assume that if you are paying $10/month for the DVR service you get a ruined recording, too. Thanks, Charter!

5) This is sort of not related to me specifically, but they have dozens of commercials a day about their service and it's totally misleading. They love to advertise about how their Charter Business Internet is "10x" faster than other companies. The only problem is they are comparing their cable service to DSL. It's not technically deceptive, since they say "DSL" in the commercial, but they're clearly trying to fool people by comparing two different products and bragging about how amazing theirs is in comparison. It would be like if I compared a Yugo to a skateboard and said it drove 10x as fast as the competition, so it must be great.

After all of that, you may be asking why I'm with Charter. I had to move to rural Tennessee for a job and Charter is the only cable provider. If I had another option, I'd go with it. (I guess technically I could go with satellite, but to be honest I've never used that before, so I'm sort of leery of it.) To be fair to Charter, I'll say that I appreciate them providing service to a rural area. That's literally the only thing I'll praise them for, since the actual service is totally half-assed.

Whenever we called with a problem, my hubby, a techie kind of guy, would talk with them on the phone and go through the motions. Well we upgraded to 30 mbps about two years ago and we were doing great with it. Our oldest daughter could be watching her Youtube vids and chatting with her friends while hubby and I played our online games, and even streamed music while we played. Since Nov of 2013 however we have noticed ALOT of ping now when our oldest was on her laptop and we were playing our games. We couldn't stream music while we played b/c they just added to the frustration. We called them and they said that they would fix it, NO tech no nothing. Ok.....2-3 months later and 4 phone calls, 2 techs later we still don't have our 30 mbps and now hubby and I can't play our games when our oldest is on her computer. We are getting really fed up with Charter. We have ran many programs to see what our DL and UL speeds are and when we are all on our computers at the same time we only get 5 mbps. REALLY!!!! WTF!!!! We have been loyal customers for a long time and we even pay for priority and we still can't get an god damn answer on why we are getting shitty speeds. I really wish we could change but ATT isn't in our area......Ugh......I really wish there were more options.

Then trouble started creeping in. TV freezing became a regular occurrence. We had multiple techs come to our home but the problem was not resolved. Finally, a tech came and said their equipment was outdated and they were planning to update but told them not to tell customers that. Finally the freezing images went away, and we had internet problems. Multiple techs again and finally a BBB complaint got the issues straightened out. For approximately a year, we've had no freezing tv shows or internet issues until 2 days. The pictures are freezing again. Quite frustrating to pay good money and not receive good quality service.

I'm going to end up dropping the television through Charter and just keep the internet. I had a great promotion going but now it's about to expire and I'll be paying over $20 a month more and now that it's going 100% encrypted, I would need a box for every TV just to watch what I already pay for. Why charge $59.99 a month and then $7.99 per box per TV? If they want to cut down on cable theft while not sticking it to the consumer, why not make regular expanded basic an everyday $39.99 a month plus the boxes? I think that would be more fair and they'd still be ahead because people can't easily steal cable from them anymore. But this regular price of $59.99 which they call a 'deal' plus at least $24 a month since the average house probably owns at least 3 TVs is ridiculous. It's not right they're making you pay even more to watch TV you already pay for. That's why I said if they either lowered the base price and charged for the boxes or charged the $60 a month and gave free boxes up to a certain amount, then I could see that. But say you have just one TV, you'd still be paying at least $70 for basically garbage and reruns galore after the package, box, and taxes. Enough is enough. I'm just dropping it down to the internet and I'm hooking up my over the air antenna get to get my locals for free. I have tons of DVDs of my favorite shows so I don't really need cable. The other shows I can't watch, I'll live without. I'll take a $40 a month bill over a $90 a month one any day. There's just no reason why Charter can't at least make it so the new digital TVs pick up the signal over the clear QAM but they just want more money, that's all that's to it. Well sorry, you're not getting more from me. I can't afford it.

I just tried to update my credit card information online because my old credit card expired. My password didn't work for some reason. As someone who uses the same password for accounts like these, I was confused. I tried to answer my security question, which also shouldn't have been hard. It didn't work either. So I used the "Virtual Assistant" which made a new window pop up every time I clicked something and was completely unhelpful. Then I decided to try to chat with a live representative. I told him my problem and he asked for my address, etc. However, in order to change my password he needed my security code, which is on the billing statement. The big problem if you pay online is that you have to log in to get your billing statement!!! He gave me some number to call. I said thank you, even though it wasn't helpful at all. The phone menu was also not helpful. So I dug through my papers and found the bill they sent before I enrolled in automatic billing. I finally got into my account. I tried to update my credit card information. I kept getting some message about needing to enter my credit card number, which I had just done. So I just gave up. I don't know if my automatic payment is going to work or not. Then I wanted to send an email to their customer service people to nicely but assertively voice my frustrations with their website. However, I'm pretty sure there is no way to send them an email. Then I found this website and the unlimited character limit. Will Charter ever read this? No. But will I feel better after typing it? Yes. It's just helpful to know there are currently 1544 other people in the same boat with me. It is really not a good sign as a company when you make it hard to pay you. I'm not technologically illiterate. I'm an educated person. I sign into online accounts all the time. I don't understand why this was so difficult. And why it was so difficult to reset my password. Or update my credit card information. Or just find someone to send an email to. For a second, I contemplated sending an email to the investor inquiries email address, which is the only email address I could find on the website…on second thought…I should do just that. :)

Buy more SERVERS AND CAPACITY you morons! I have slowly seen the speed dwindle from about 12Mbps to around 4, and that is if the pages even load. Its glitchy and spazzy for the last 24 hours. Some pages load, others don't at all or take about 10 minutes. No streaming. Because they are in the middle of a wonderful consolidation of several regional carriers I don't even have a CS number to call to get information. Isn't deregulation great!? What a fucking joke...some day there will just be one big internet company who owns all the infrastructure, can charge whatever they want and throttle whoever they want. I've called to complain several times and they want me perform so much debugging work on my end they should send me a paycheck.

Last night and this morning only a handful of bytes trickled through to my home. Unbelievable! And to make all this degradation of service even worse - I've had TWO price increases in the last 6 months. I'm enjoying looking at the alternative ISPs. The anticipation of calling Charter and cancelling my service helps me cope.

I'm glad I found this site to vent, Oh my gosh. I cannot tell you how many times we have had to call Charter Tech support.
The internet is so unreliable, And the speed is supposed to be 30mb....it caps at around 10 when I test it, wtf?
Not to mention it disconnects on a regular basis, by regular I mean ATLEAST 3 times a day. I'm so frustrated, but sadly this is our only option.

While the concept (and name - LOL) of this website is certainly admirable, what is it's ultimate goal? To simply let people vent their momentary frustrations before returning to taking it up the ass by Charter? That's relatively pointless, IMHO, as it doesn't CHANGE a damn thing. Talk, complain, more talk... but no "walk". Charter has what seems to me to be a very defined goal of monopolizing and cornering the market (more so with a potential Time Warner acquisition) so they can price gouge their customers as they see fit, and their customers have little to no recourse if they want to live in a continued world of connectivity. Effectively, they...

1) Offer super affordable introductory promotions to get new customers in the door
2) Get customers locked into multiple service "bundles" so they are more reluctant to cancel them once dependent on them
3) Jack up the prices on their existing customers when their promotions run out and pray they're too far in to back out

Seriously, people. It's BAIT AND SWITCH. When I first "bundled" my services with Charter to include phone, I dropped the $56 a month (indefinite) unlimited long distance service plan I had with CenturyLink to save a few bucks by going VoIP with Charter for $30. Yet what am I paying now? $60. Worse off financially than I was before I switched, for probably inferior service...

Anyway - back to my original point. What is ANY of this random "bitching" effectively going to do? Absolutely NOTHING? Charter doesn't care you're upset. The ONLY thing they care about (as with most conglomerate corporations nowadays) is their fat ass "bottom line", and unless you somehow manage to put a dent in THAT, nothing will ever change.

So... how COULD that ever happen? ORGANIZATION, people. Someone ("Author"... cough, cough) should initiate a VERY public "Cancel Charter Services" day... or week... or month. I wonder how they would react if you could get 100,000, or 200,000, or who knows how many people to cancel their services in a week, the media gets word of it, and their stock drops to below $100 a share? It's not like you're getting any savings over "standard rates" anymore anyway, so cancelling with even a minimal prospect of reestablishing services at some point is a no loss situation other than surviving without the services in the meantime. Hell - most everyone has a cell phone nowadays (me - I just communicate over Skype and text on my iPad for a grand total of about $30 a month), so the phone aspect people could easily do without, leaving only TV and internet. Unplug from the interweb a bit and you could easily survive on an affordable 4GLTE hotspot plan with comparable speeds, and a $20 digital antenna would get you by for a while on the TV bare minimum.

So why not make a REAL "point", turn the tables, stick it to THEIR asses for once, and do something worthwhile that could ACTUALLY make a difference? You're not happy with them "sucking"? Do something to CHANGE IT already!!

I worked for charter for almost 5 years. When we got stuff fixed they changed the policy's and moved the department causing issues for customers. During my last few months at the call center in Kentucky the supervisor I was put on completely tried to get people fired. And of course it works the employees that are left have no idea what is going on because, that is the only way they can keep people from knowing. I am with 6mbs dsl as Timewarner has all of charter's bad employees and they are most likely going to buy them out. Net neutrality was dead years ago when markets are owned by 1 company. Good luck to all as our generation is screwed till all those corrupt pieces of shit are dead from old age. Trust me the illegal shit charter does is all becoming legal now and the internet is doomed.

Same call that Charter came out to "fix" our cable. They installed the kitchen first. I checked and we weren't getting channels above 100. Instead it says "This channel will be available soon." But it wasn't. I asked why that was. They told me that would require an additional service call that would have to be set up for another day and I would have to pay for. So, basically, when they "fixed" our cable by installing boxes that I have to pay for, they broke our cable and wanted me to pay to have them fix it! Why don't they just ask for "protection" money? "Mr. Customer, it would be a shame if something were to happen to your cable just before the big game. For a mere $200 I can make sure that nothing "happens" to your cable." Oh, yes, Charter sucks!

I have had maintenance over to look at it and they have no idea why it does what it does, and that was that. What are the real terms they are hiding in dozens of online documents which might apply to their deal they sold you? $30 a month internet for a year appears to have a $45 a month for a second year that was not shown in any of the information when I signed up. In fact I can not find any online documents from charter which exactly explain what terms they think I am under, the closest one states $40 a month for the second year.

If I avoid looking at online videos then I can drop Charter all together and do everything I need using the Android smartphone I have using it’s data plan, so why jerk customers around who only use them as a luxury which can be eliminated for sucking too much?!

We've always had problems as the best it ever was at install was 65 Mbps.....If you think you have Charter 100 Mbps, make sure you test it regularly and complain if its below the stated service level. I have no choice in my are because of the corrupt monopoly but we at least now have saved ourselves $47.99 (which we had been paying for at least 8 mos after first discovering the poor service)

So the smarmy charter sales guy gets my info and says, "we can bring service to that building but its going to cost $9200. Now if we can make the numbers work for you, would you be willing to do that?" Now mind you, I had clicked on a link to "Switch to Charter for $55/month."

So I say to the guy, "Why would I do that? It makes no sense. Also I clicked on something that advertised the rate as being $55/month."

They are ALWAYS a waste of time. God I HATE ALL CABLE COMPANIES. Monopolies are bad and they are a great example of how crappy service is with these companies.
